Question: Has space travel and research been increasing?
Companies like Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic are bringing new options for tourist attractions with their aircrafts able to reach the Earth's exosphere, allowing riders to experience "zero gravity"
Jeff Basos is seeking to reduce costs of these attractions for a wider commercial use
Private companies creating their own spacecraft and going into space cuts costs for NASA, and promotes the possibility of better space travel in the near future.
Question: Are these private companies competing or working with one another as they try to get to space?
Yes and no. While private companies are not required to release plans/patents to the general public, they might benefit from sharing data and information with one another.
the ethics of private industry in space are something we mentioned last semester, as well as the possibility of space monopolies.
Question: What are the motivations behind these space companies? Are they doing this for purely a profitable standpoint or because of intrinsic properties?
